Conversion rules
XML elements become JSON object keys. Repeated sibling elements are collected into arrays.
Attributes are preserved as @name keys, and an element's own text (when it also has
children or attributes) is stored under #text. With auto-detect enabled, text values
that look like numbers or booleans (true/false) are converted to native JSON types.

Does it handle namespaces?
Namespaced tags keep their prefixed names (e.g. soap:Body becomes the key soap:Body). Full namespace URI mapping is not performed.
Are XML comments and processing instructions included?
No — comments, DOCTYPE and processing instructions are skipped.
